There is a new #1 this week and it's the Tennessee Outlaws (7-3). After a 124.8-80 victory over the Midway Monsters (5-5) and an upset win by the Glendale Grizzlies (4-6) over the Virginia Venom (7-3), the Outlaws move into the #1 spot for the first time this season. Biggest Movers - This weeks biggest movers were the Tennessee Outlaws (7-3) moving up 3 spots to number 1 and the Afton Thunder (4-6) dropping 4 spots to number 10. Blowout Special - This weeks blowout was by the Mosheim Widowmakers (4-6) with a score of 92.8-44.1 over Afton Thunder (4-6). A 48.7 point ASS WHUPPIN!!! (Honorable Mention to the Grizzlies and Outlaws who both also won by over 40 points this week.) Game of the Week - The Game of the Week goes to the matchup between the Satsuma Samurai (7-3) and the Texas Militia (6-4). The Militia took some retribution (for an early season loss to the Samurai) as the hostile crowd in Santa Fe was just too much for the Samurai to overcome in this weeks closest game. Final Score : Militia - 85.9, Samurai - 81.1 Playoff Update - If the season ended today, here is what the playoffs would look like:

The Columbus Trojans took down the #1 Virginia Venom this week and stayed in the American Conference playoff race. If the Trojans manage to get into the playoffs, they will be a nightmare matchup for whoever they face as they are so unpredictable and are capable of scoring an insane amount of points. Time will tell. Biggest Movers - This weeks biggest movers were the Afton Thunder (3-5) moving up 3 spots to number 9 and the Murfreesboro Diesels (3-3) dropping 3 spots to number 8. Blowout Special - This weeks blowout was by the upstart Afton Thunder (3-5) with a score of 114.2-90.5 over Tennessee Outlaws (5-3). A 23.7 point ASS WHUPPIN!!! Game of the Week - The Game of the Week goes to the matchup between the Clear Creek Wildcats (4-4) and the Clinch Mountain Hicks (6-2). The Hicks topped the Wildcats 98.2-95.5 in this weeks closest game. Special Notice - Congrats to the Afton Thunder (3-5) who are in the middle of a three game winning streak and now right in the thick of the playoff race. The Thunder started 0-5 and kept plugging away until good things started happening and now they are staring at a possible playoff birth if they can win out. No quit in the Thunder! Good Job. |

With the first four weeks in the books and 1/3 of the season behind us, the TFL rankings are starting to be more accurate. Again, this system takes into account Average Score (60%), Highest Score plus Lowest Score (20%), and Winning PTC (20%). We have a new number 1 team in the TFL and its the Virginia Venom. With the Venom (3-1) topping the previously undefeated and current number 3 Tennessee Outlaws (3-1) by a count of 104.2-91.8 and the previous number 1 Clear Creek Wildcats (3-1) falling to the Florida Fists (2-2) by a count of 91.9-77, the Venom moved into the number 1 spot (up 2 spots from last week) with a ranking of 123.4. Biggest Movers - This weeks biggest movers were the Clinch Mountain Hicks moving up a whopping 6 spots to number 4 and the Glendale Grizzlies sliding down 6 spots to number 12. Blowout Special - This weeks top scorer was the Columbus Trojans (2-2) with a score of 126.7 which is the highest score in the TFL this year. The lowest score of the week belongs to the Mosheim Widowmakers (2-2) with a score of 36.5 which is the lowest score in the TFL this year and to top it off the Trojans and Widowmakers went head-to-head this week making for a 90.2 point ASS WHUPPIN!!! Game of the Week - The Game of the Week goes to the matchup between the then number 2 Tennessee Outlaws and the then number 3 Virginia Venom. On paper it was the GotW going in and it lived up to the hype with both teams topping the 90 point plateau and the Venom topping 100. Upcoming Game of the Week - The Venom are again involved in the Game of the Week when they face the 4th ranked Brown Springs Bruisers. With both teams averaging near 90 points per game (Venom avg 95.1, Bruisers avg 89.5) this one should provide some fireworks. Biggest Surprise - Has to be the Texas Militia starting 1-3 and carrying a 10th place ranking after a third of the season. Check back in a few weeks (preferably after week 7!!) and we will be talking about the turn-around of this proud franchise as they are currently averaging 87.6 points per game which is 4th in the league. With the Alamo Showdown lurking they need to find some consistency quick and we expect they will, putting things back to normal in the Lone Star State. Toughest Divisions - By averaging the TFL ranking of every team in each division, here is how the Divisions shake out:

Matthew Berry, ESPN So what to make of Ronnie Brown's amazing five-touchdown game? Yup, five. He rushed for four, and then to complete his LaDainian Tomlinson impression, he threw for one, too. Not counting the 19 yards passing (too few for a fantasy point), he had 122 total yards on 18 touches. OK, the obvious stuff first: You've seen his best game of the season. His value will never be higher (and the Patriots have a lot of work to do). Brown clearly looked healthy, which was nice to see. But going forward, teams are not going to take the Dolphins as lightly as New England did. (Or his fantasy owners did, for that matter; only 16 percent of Brown's owners started him.) And remember, Ricky Williams had 119 yards on 18 touches -- numbers almost identical to Brown's, just without the scores. A lot of Williams' output came in the second half, but still. So where does that leave us? I'd be dangling Brown to see what I could get. For value comparison, here's a list (in no particular order) of running backs I'd rather have than Ronnie Brown the rest of the season: Brandon Jacobs, Steven Jackson, Thomas Jones, Willis McGahee, Darren McFadden, Jonathan Stewart, Jamal Lewis, Michael Turner, Chris Johnson and Matt Forte. Here are some guys I don't like as much as Brown: Williams, Larry Johnson, Kevin Smith, Justin Fargas, Chris Perry, LenDale White and Reggie Bush. Interesting observation by Chris Mortensen in the War Room today: David Lee is the quarterbacks coach for the Dolphins. Last year, he was the offensive coordinator for Arkansas and used the McFadden-as-a-passer play a decent amount. Miami has been working on that play a lot. In other words, Ronnie may get a few more touchdown passes before it's all over. Oh, and somewhere, someone played against Ronnie Brown, Michael Turner and the Philadelphia defense this weekend. Whoever you are, my heart goes out to you. |

The TFL Rankings are very different from the Power Rankings offered by this site. The TFL Rankings are a mathematical formula used to reach a ranking which uses Average Score (60%), Highest Score plus Lowest Score (20%), and Winning PTC. (20%). I prefer this to many Power Rankings as it put emphasis on wins and after all, this is a head-to-head league and not rotary. This is not to be confused with a Power Rank and is not how i think the teams will finish the season. Its just how they stack up right now based on points AND record. Have fun with it! For those who would like to know, the formula is (avg score x 6) + [(high score + low score) x 2] +[ (winning % x 200) x 2] ÷ 10. For more information on this Ranking, visit Oberon Mt. NFL.com -- Tom Brady suffered a serious knee injury against the Chiefs that will end his 2008 season, reports NFL Network’s Adam Schefter. Meanwhile, free-agent quarterback Chris Simms is scheduled to arrive in New England Monday morning for a workout and a physical, Schefter reports. If all goes well, Simms could be a Patriot by the end of the day. Kansas City and Tennessee, each of whom had quarterbacks suffer significant injuries on Sunday, also have contacted Simms. Patriots coach Bill Belichick had little to add about Brady during his postgame press conference, saying he had no update on the status of the injury and that tests were being done. We now have the video of Brady’s injury. Brady left Sunday’s 17-10 win over the Chiefs early in the first quarter with a left knee injury and was replaced by Matt Cassel. Brady was injured when he stepped up in the pocket to make a throw, and collided with Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard, who was down on the field in front of him. Brady’s left knee buckled as he followed through on his throw, and he went down holding the area immediately below his kneecap. Brady was helped up off the field, and walked gingerly with the help of trainers to the sideline. He was later led down a staircase into Gillette Stadium by team personnel. Cassel replaced Brady on the Patriots’ next drive. Brady was 7 of 11 passing for 76 yards before leaving the game. Cassel finished 13 of 18 passing for 152 yards and a touchdown. |
